Saudi Airline resumes Hajj flights for Iranians after a decade

A Saudi airline has resumed flights for Iranian hajj pilgrims traveling to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for the first time in a decade, marking another step in the ongoing thaw in relations between the two nations.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A Saudi airline has resumed flights for Iranian hajj pilgrims traveling to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for the first time in a decade, marking another step in the ongoing thaw in relations between the two nations.

Flynas, a Saudi-based budget airline, restarted flights from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA) on Saturday, a Saudi civil aviation authority official announced.

According to Mehr, the official also stated that flights from Mashhad would soon be added, enabling over 35,000 Iranian pilgrims to travel to Saudi Arabia for the hajj.

While Flynas operates domestic and international routes, these specific flights are exclusively dedicated to hajj pilgrimage and are not commercial services, the official clarified.

With the annual hajj set to commence in the first week of June, pilgrims from around the world have already begun arriving in Saudi Arabia to take part in the religious journey, The Arab Weekly reported.
